About Linda Umstead
I come to painting and illustration with a designer's eye. I use many art mediums, and find watercolor particularly challenging and exciting. I paint watercolor botanicals in local tropical gardens twice a week, and create wall calendars of the works. My paintings of local birds, a series titled The Birds of Paradise, is an ongoing work in progress. A new series is titled Rising Seas, showing how rising sea levels may change the landscape of Honolulu and the Hawaiian Islands in the next century. I also curate an annual exhibition, Ho'omaluhia New Year Invitational.
